How Much Does a Website Cost in Surat? (2026 Guide)

In Surat, a basic business website in 2026 usually costs anywhere from ₹7,000 to ₹80,000, and an online store from about ₹40,000 to ₹2,50,000 or more. Where you land depends on who builds it (a freelancer, a small agency or an established company), how many pages you need, and whether the design is custom or a ready-made template. The build price is only half the story, though: domain, hosting and maintenance add a yearly cost that many quotes leave out.
We are a Surat studio and get asked this every week. Here is an honest breakdown of what the market charges and what to watch out for.
What do website designers in Surat charge in 2026?
Most Surat businesses will see three price bands, depending on who they hire.
These are typical ranges based on current local listings and published price guides. Your quote can sit outside them, but if it does, ask why.
Freelancers: roughly ₹5,000 to ₹25,000
Many local freelancers and listings on marketplaces like IndiaMART quote ₹7,000 to ₹10,000 for a small business site. At this price you are usually getting a pre-made theme (often WordPress) with your logo, text and photos dropped in. That can be fine for a very simple need. The common catch is that the hosting and sometimes the domain stay in the freelancer's name, which becomes a problem later.
Small agencies and studios: roughly ₹15,000 to ₹60,000
This is where most small and mid-size Surat businesses buy. You should expect a proper design process, 5 to 10 pages, mobile-friendly layouts, basic on-page SEO, a contact form and WhatsApp button, and some support after launch. Quality varies a lot within this band, so the questions you ask matter more than the number.
Established companies: roughly ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000 and above
Larger firms with bigger teams charge more because they carry more overhead (sales staff, project managers, offices). For complex projects, multiple languages, integrations with your ERP or CRM, or a large ecommerce catalogue, this can be the right choice.
For reference, our own packages start at ₹17,999 (Launch, live in 5 days), ₹29,999 (Growth, 14 days), ₹49,999 (Scale, 21 days) and ₹64,999 (Commerce, 28 days). Every project gets a fixed quote before work starts.
Why do website prices vary so much in Surat?
Prices vary because "a website" can mean very different amounts of work. Two quotes for "a 5-page website" can differ by ₹40,000 and both can be fair. Here is what actually drives the cost.
How many pages do you need?
More pages mean more design, more content and more testing. A one-page site for a new shop is very different from a 25-page site for a manufacturer with separate pages for every product line.
Is it custom design or a template?
A template is a ready-made design shared by thousands of other websites. It is cheaper and faster, but it looks generic and often loads slowly because it carries code you do not need. A custom site is designed and coded for your business. It costs more upfront but usually loads faster, ranks better and does a better job of making you look different from competitors. At Mago Labs we only build custom, hand-coded websites, so we are biased here, but we would still tell you a template is fine for a short-term or very low-budget need.
Do you need ecommerce?
Selling online adds product pages, cart, payment gateway (Razorpay, PayU, etc.), shipping rules, GST invoices and order emails. That is why ecommerce sites start around ₹40,000 and can go well past ₹2,00,000 for large catalogues.
Who writes the content?
Many quotes assume you will send all the text and photos. If the agency writes your copy, plans your pages and arranges photography, the price goes up, but so does the quality. Good conversion copywriting is often the difference between a site that gets calls and one that just exists.
Is SEO included?
"SEO-friendly" can mean anything. Basic on-page SEO (titles, meta descriptions, headings, speed, Google Search Console setup) should be part of any decent build. Ongoing SEO, such as local SEO and content, is a separate monthly service.
What hidden costs should I budget for?
The hidden costs are the yearly ones: domain, hosting, maintenance and renewals. Ask for these in writing before you agree to anything.
Domain name:
a .com or .in domain is usually a few hundred to around ₹1,500 a year, depending on the registrar. Watch out for low first-year offers that renew at a much higher price.
Hosting:
shared hosting for a small business site commonly costs ₹3,000 to ₹10,000 a year. Ecommerce or high-traffic sites need better hosting and cost more.
SSL certificate:
the padlock in the browser. Many hosts include a free one. If someone is charging you separately every year, ask why.
Business email:
an address like you@yourbusiness.com through Google Workspace or Zoho is a separate per-user cost.
AMC or maintenance contract:
many agencies sell an annual maintenance contract. Published market rates range from a few thousand rupees a year for a simple static site to well over ₹30,000 a year for WordPress sites that need regular plugin updates and security patches. Ask exactly what is included: updates, backups, small text changes, how many hours.
Paid plugins and themes:
template-based sites often rely on premium plugins with yearly licences.
A good rule: ask every provider for the "total cost of year one" and the "total cost of year two". The second number tells you a lot.
What are the red flags when getting a website quote in Surat?
The biggest red flag is any arrangement where you do not own your domain, hosting account or website files. Others to watch for:
The domain is registered in their name.
If you fall out with them, you can lose your web address. Insist it is registered in your business name with your email.
No written scope.
A quote that just says "website, ₹15,000" leaves room for surprises. Ask for the page list, features, number of revisions and timeline in writing.
Unclear renewal pricing.
"Hosting free for one year" often becomes an expensive renewal.
A portfolio you cannot verify.
Ask for live links, not screenshots, and check that those businesses actually exist.
100% payment upfront.
A split payment (for example, part to start and the rest on completion) protects both sides.
Promises of "page one on Google in 30 days".
Nobody can guarantee rankings.
No mention of mobile speed.
Most of your visitors in India will be on a phone. A slow site loses them.
Is a cheap website worth it for a small business?
A cheap website is worth it only if it is honest about what it is and you own it. A ₹8,000 template site that is in your name, loads fast and has your correct details is better than no website.
The problem is when a cheap site quietly costs you customers: it looks dated, loads slowly, has no clear call to action or does not show up on Google.
When a website is done properly, the return can be large. A dental clinic we worked with went from 25 to 58 patients a day within two months of launch, with appointment calls up 63%. A CA firm, Darshan Galani & Co., signed 34 new clients within three months of its first website. Neither of those results came from the cheapest option on the market.
How do I get an accurate website quote?
You get an accurate quote by being clear about what you need before you ask. Write down:
What the website must do (get calls, take bookings, sell products, build trust with B2B buyers).
The pages you think you need.
Whether you have content and photos ready, or need help.
Any features: WhatsApp, booking, payments, multiple languages, catalogue downloads.
Your budget range and deadline.
Send the same brief to two or three providers.
